The Ins and Outs
Award winners have over the past 13 years been recognised by their peers and colleagues at this annual ceremony. Applications that focus on business goals and results of the project or use of technology have a higher chance of winning. The best part is, anyone can nominate a company. Businesses and consumers are ready to adopt new technology, but we cannot succeed alone. Join leaders from across the tech spectrum and re-imagine the role of technology in our world.
Applications are reviewed, evaluated and scored by our panel of judges, including industry experts, academics, business executives and former CIOs. The dx100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony – dx5’s most powerful pan-African gathering of senior business executives, is an exclusive event that will be held in Diani this November.
Watch industry experts and other featured personalities give the low down on what the dx100 Symposium and Awards is all about.

Why Digital Transformation Should Be A Strategic Priority In Africa
Africa’s digital transformation is gaining momentum, but it must be a strategic priority if we are to unlock the full potential of our people, businesses and governments. Digital transformation is the key to unlocking global opportunities and help solve some of the continent’s most pressing challenges such as improving health care, creating jobs, solving problems related to youth unemployment, rural development and many more. How then can both government and the private sector work to actualize this potential?

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
As businesses and other organizations undergo digital transformation, they’re faced with a growing tsunami of data that is at once incredibly valuable and increasingly burdensome to collect, process and analyze. New tools and methodologies are needed to manage the vast quantity of data being collected, to mine it for insights and to act on those insights when they’re discovered

Hybrid Cloud & Multi-cloud Infrastructure
Cloud computing has become critical for digital transformation. However, a single cloud no longer suits to maintain the growing spectrum of businesses’ current needs and future goals. By 2023, organizations are projected to depend on different clouds to meet their IT needs fully. Yet, few managers today have a formal strategy for transitioning to multi - or hybrid cloud operations. They both perform different functions and come with distinct advantages.

How Do We Bring Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in an Organisation?

Vivian Kigadaspeaker
Connecting the dots in cybersecurity
It is midnight, a cyberattack has been launched, and the automation engine spots it thanks to the massive amounts of security data that have been generated over the previous weeks. In spite of the late hour, key decision makers have to be informed immediately. These are the main challenges security analysts are facing on a daily basis. These helpers are currently tackling them one incident at a time, where an incident is defined as one attack tracked from beginning to end. This approach is highly efficient but far from being perfect — or fast. Yet it also raises an even bigger problem: if an organization is under attack, how can it know whether or not this particular attack was not preceded by other attacks? Or whether it is part of a previously unseen pattern? This raises the question of what organizations' current cybersecurity approaches miss out on by implication.
Correlating a cyber-attack is like trying to connect the dots of a circle. Each single data point indicates an attack, but it's unclear if there is any pattern. How do we confirm that 'A' always happens before 'B', and thus A is the cause of B? Join this Ideation session to explore new approaches in cybersecurity, learn and get insights on how you can connect the dots and have a secure environment in your organization.

The Role of Digital Transformation in Smart Infrastructure
There is a digital transformation happening in all facets of our lives. From smartphones to smart homes, smart is the way of the future. Being smarter means utilizing digital process automation in smart infrastructure to make life easier people. It’s not just about improving efficiency with technology, but also improving the quality of life for people. Smart infrastructure enables smart processes which in turn enables leaders to use real-time data to make informed
decisions on current issues and develop solutions that are timely and cost-efficient.

How Do You Balance Innovation with the Practicality of BaU Pressure?
The world is full of opportunities, but on their own these opportunities won’t grow your business. You need to innovate and experiment with new technologies, skills and strategies that will help you compete in a tough market. But how do you balance innovation and running the IT organization and making sure the lights are on?

Is Zero Trust The Answer To Enterprise Security Woes?
The Zero Trust approach is an important step for enterprises and organizations to improve their security posture. But it also reveals a fundamental shift in the manner we think about security, which can be hard for some organisations. Is Zero Trust “the” security silver bullet we have been waiting for? How can it be easier for organisations to adopt this approach to enterprise security?

When Innovating, Think People, Processes, Then Technology
Innovation is a process, not an event. Innovation is about the future, not the past. Innovation is about people 10:40 AM and organizations, not products and services. Innovation is about thinking differently about what you do. When you want to innovate first think of the processes, the people and then allow technology to enable the innovation. But, what about product innovation?

What CEOs Expect From CIOs
CIOs are the CEO’s technology officer. They are responsible for everything from keeping the company’s computers up and running to managing its digital transformation. This role has evolved over time, but today’s CIOs are expected to help their businesses leverage technology to grow revenue, engage customers, improve products and services, streamline operations and even find new ways to exploit their data. The question is, are CIOs cut for this?
